How do I find where a picture is used on my website?

Open Website, then Images, and select the picture. Where it is used lists every page or product that shows it, with a link to edit that page.

Every picture in your Images library carries a note of where it appears on your site. This helps you find a photo you want to replace, or check that a picture is not used anywhere before you remove it.

What you need

  • Access to your client portal. Any role on your team can browse the library.
  • About 2 minutes.

Steps

  1. In the portal menu, open Website, then Images.
  2. To narrow the grid, select a folder name above the search box, or type in the Search by file name or where it is used... box. Each picture's card also shows a short note, such as how many pages use it.
  3. To see only pictures in use, pick Used from the menu next to the search box. Pick Not used to see pictures nothing points at, or All pictures to see everything again.
  4. Select a picture to open its details.
  5. Read Where it is used. Each line is a place that shows the picture, such as a page, a product, a setting or your website's design.
  6. If a line is a link, select it to open that page or product. If your account can edit pages, an Edit page link also shows beside each page so you can change the picture there.
  7. To use the picture somewhere else, select Copy address and paste the address where you need it.

Common problems

  • If you see "Nothing we checked points at this picture.", the picture is not on any page we know about. It may still be safe to keep for later.
  • If you see a warning that we could not check every place a picture might be used, some pictures may show as not used when they are. Wait and reload before you delete anything.
  • If a file does not show, tick Show other files too to include files that are not pictures.
  • There is no description (alt text) field here, because the same picture can need different wording on different pages. Change the description on the page itself, or ask our team.
