Which web browser should I use, and how do I update it?

Any current version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox works well. Keep it updated, because old browsers miss security fixes and can show websites incorrectly.

A browser is the app you use to visit websites. Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox are the most common. Any of them works well for viewing your site and using your client portal, as long as it is up to date. An old browser can miss security fixes, show pages with broken layouts, or refuse to load some features.

Which one to use

Use the one you like. When you report a problem, tell us which browser and device you used. If something looks wrong, try a second browser. If it looks right there, the problem is probably the first browser's saved files or an add-on.

Common problems

  • If a site looks broken in one browser only, clear that browser's cache or turn off its add-ons and try again.
  • If your browser will not update, your computer's system software may be too old. Update the system first.
  • If a work computer will not let you update, your IT person may control updates. Ask them.
