How do I clear my browser cache?

Open your browser's privacy or history settings, choose the cached images and files, pick a time range and clear them. Steps for Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.

Your browser keeps copies of pages, images and files so sites open faster next time. When a site changes, that saved copy can keep showing the old version or an old error. Clearing the cache makes the browser download a fresh copy. Pages may load a little slower the first time afterward, which is normal.

Before you clear anything, try a private or incognito window. If the page looks right there, clearing your cache will likely fix it.

What you need

  • The browser you use to view the site
  • About two minutes

Clearing cookies too will sign you out of most websites. If you only want fresh pages, clear the cache and leave cookies alone.

Common problems

  • If the old page still shows after clearing, close the browser fully and open it again.
  • If you were signed out of other sites, you also cleared cookies. Sign back in; nothing else was lost.
  • If the page is still wrong in a private window and on your phone, the problem is not your cache. Open a request with the page address and a screenshot.
  • If you use Chrome on a phone, the steps differ slightly. Use the phone tab on Google's guide linked above.
