Why don't I see the changes on my website?

Your browser and the internet keep saved copies of pages, called a cache. Until a saved copy is refreshed, you may see the old version. Clearing your cache usually fixes it.

A cache is a saved copy. To make websites fast, your browser saves pages, images and styles the first time you visit. Next time, it shows the saved copy instead of downloading everything again. Many websites also use a network of servers around the world that keep their own saved copies. When we change your site, those saved copies can take a little while to catch up, so you may still see the old version.

What "clear your cache" means

When someone asks you to clear your cache, they mean: delete the saved copies on your device so the browser fetches a fresh one. It does not delete anything on your website. It does not change anything for your visitors. It only changes what your own browser shows you.

Quick checks before you clear anything

  1. Reload the page. On a computer, a normal reload often fetches the newest version.
  2. Open a private or incognito window. These windows start without saved copies. If the change shows there, your cache was the cause.
  3. Check on your phone with Wi-Fi off. A different device and network gives you a fresh view.
  4. Clear your browser cache. Our step-by-step guide covers Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.

Why some changes take longer

  • Images are often saved longer than text, so a new photo can lag behind new words.
  • Domain and DNS changes follow different rules. They can take hours to spread. See our guide on why a domain change is not showing yet.
  • Search results on Google update on Google's own schedule. A new page title or description can take days or weeks to appear there, even when the page itself is updated.

When to open a request

If the change is missing in a private window, on your phone and on another network after an hour or so, open a request. Tell us the page address, what you expected to see, and include a screenshot.

We can do this for you. Open a request in your client portal and our team will check whether the change is live and refresh any saved copies on our side.

Common problems

  • If a coworker sees the new version but you do not, your device has an old saved copy. Clear your cache.
  • If you see the new version but a customer does not, ask them to reload or try a private window.
  • If the change shows on the page but not in Google results, that is normal. Google updates its listing later.
