What does DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN mean?
This Chrome error means DNS could not find the domain, so the browser has no address to connect to.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN is a Chrome error. NXDOMAIN means "non-existent domain": the DNS lookup came back saying no such name exists. Other browsers show it as "server not found" or "can't find the server." Causes include a typo in the address, a domain that has expired, missing DNS records, a recent nameserver change that has not spread yet, or a DNSSEC mismatch after a move.
Why it matters for your business: If your own domain shows this, your website and possibly your email are unreachable. An expired domain is the first thing to rule out.
What to do if you see it
- Check the address for typos.
- Try another network or device, in case your own DNS is having trouble.
- If it is your own domain, check with your registrar that it has not expired, then open a request in your client portal so our team can check your DNS.
