What is Google's algorithm?
Google's algorithm is the large set of automated systems Google uses to decide which pages to show for a search and in what order.
When people say "the algorithm," they mean the many ranking systems Google runs together. These systems weigh signals such as the words on a page, how well it matches the searcher's intent, its quality and trustworthiness, links from other sites, page experience and the searcher's location. Google changes these systems thousands of times a year, usually in small ways, and announces larger updates.
Why it matters for your business: No one outside Google knows every detail, so lasting SEO focuses on what the systems reward overall: helpful, trustworthy pages that load well and match what people search for.
