What is an ISP?
An ISP, or internet service provider, is the company that connects your home, office or phone to the internet.
An ISP (internet service provider) is the company you pay for internet access, such as a cable, fiber, DSL or mobile carrier. Your ISP gives your devices an IP address and usually runs DNS lookups for you by default. ISPs keep saved copies of DNS answers, which is one reason a website change can show up for one person before another. Your ISP is not your web host. They are separate services.
Why it matters for your business: If your site loads at the office but not at home, the problem may be with one ISP's network or DNS rather than your website.
