What is e-commerce?
E-commerce means selling products or services online, with a store, a cart and online payments on your website or another platform.
E-commerce, short for electronic commerce, is buying and selling online. An e-commerce website lets customers browse products, add them to a cart, pay by card or other methods, and get a confirmation by email. Behind the scenes it handles stock, shipping, taxes and order records. Businesses can sell from their own website, through marketplaces, or both. Selling services, gift cards, deposits or booking fees online also counts.
Why it matters for your business: Online sales let customers buy when you are closed. A store needs ongoing care: accurate prices, working checkout and secure payments.
