What is scraped content?
Scraped content is text or media copied from other websites, often automatically, and posted without adding anything new.
Scraping means copying content from other sites, usually with software, and republishing it. Some sites scrape articles, reviews or product details to fill pages quickly. Google's spam policies treat scraped content without added value as spam, and it can also break copyright. Sometimes your own content gets scraped by someone else. Search engines usually still recognize the original source.
Why it matters for your business: Building your site from copied text can get pages ignored or penalized. If someone copies your content, you can file a copyright removal request with Google.
