What makes a good service page?
A good service page focuses on one service, explains it in your customers' words, answers their usual questions, shows proof and makes the next step obvious.
A service page is a page about one thing you sell, such as "roof repair" or "teeth whitening". It is often the page that brings in the most customers from search, because it matches what people type when they are ready to hire. A good one answers the questions a customer would ask before calling you.
What to include
- A clear title and heading naming the service and your area.
- A short opening that says what the service is and who it is for.
- What is included and how the process works, step by step.
- The questions customers ask most, answered plainly: how long it takes, what to expect, how to prepare.
- Proof: photos of your own work, a short review about this service, licenses or certifications.
- Where you offer it: the towns or areas you serve.
- One clear next step, such as Call, Book or Request a quote.
Search basics
- One service per page. Separate pages for separate services help both people and Google.
- Write from experience. Google's guidance favors content that shows first-hand knowledge. Details only a real provider would know help.
- Link to it from your homepage and from related pages.
- No word count target. Google says there is no ideal length. Write until the customer's questions are answered.
Avoid this
- Copy-paste pages for every town with only the town name changed. Google's spam policies call pages made mainly to funnel searchers this way "doorway" pages.
- Copying text from manufacturers or competitors.
- Stuffing the service name into every sentence.
We can write it for you. Open a request in your client portal with the service, what is included and a few photos, and our team will draft the page for your approval.
Common problems
- If the page gets visits but no calls, move the main button and phone number higher, and add reviews near the top.
- If the page does not show up in search, check in Search Console that it is indexed, and make sure other pages link to it.
- If you offer many small services, group closely related ones on one page and give your main money-makers their own pages.
