What is a brandmark?

A brandmark is a logo symbol with no words, such as a picture or shape that people learn to link with your business.

A brandmark, sometimes called a pictorial mark or logo symbol, is the picture part of a logo with no text. It might be a simple drawing of something real, like a leaf or a house, or a custom shape. Brandmarks are compact, so they fit well in tight spots like app icons, favicons and social profile pictures. On their own they only work once people already know the business, so new businesses usually pair the symbol with the name.

Why it matters for your business: A strong symbol gives you a mark for small spaces where your full name will not fit, such as a browser tab or a printed stamp.
