What is a breadcrumb trail?

A breadcrumb trail is a row of links near the top of a page showing where you are in a site, like Home > Services > Roof Repair.

Breadcrumbs are a small line of links that shows the path from your home page to the page you are on. Each step is clickable, so visitors can jump back up a level. The name comes from the fairy tale where children leave a trail of crumbs. Breadcrumbs are most helpful on larger sites with categories, such as stores or sites with many services or locations.

Why it matters for your business: Breadcrumbs help visitors explore related pages without getting lost, and search engines can use them to understand how your site is organized.
