What is a framework?
A framework is a ready-made set of code and rules that developers build on, so they do not write every common feature from scratch.
A framework is a foundation of pre-written code that gives developers a standard structure and common features to build on. Some frameworks handle the look of a site, such as Bootstrap or Tailwind for styling. Others handle how the site works, such as React, Next.js or Laravel. Using a well-known framework speeds up building, makes it easier for another developer to take over, and brings in fixes from a large community.
Why it matters for your business: Sites built on popular, maintained frameworks are easier to update and to hand to a new developer. Old or obscure frameworks can leave you stuck.
