What is JavaScript?
JavaScript is the programming language that makes web pages interactive, powering menus, sliders, forms, chat boxes and more.
JavaScript is a programming language that runs in the browser and makes pages do things. It opens menus, checks form entries before sending, loads new content without reloading the page (a technique once called AJAX), runs chat widgets and tracks analytics. It can also run on servers. JavaScript is not related to the Java language despite the name. Too much JavaScript, or a broken script, can slow a page or stop parts of it working.
Why it matters for your business: Most interactive features and outside tools on your site rely on JavaScript. One faulty script can break a form or checkout without any visible error.
