What is a measurement ID?
A measurement ID is the code starting with \"G-\" that connects your website to the right Google Analytics data stream.
Every GA4 web data stream has a measurement ID that looks like G- followed by letters and numbers. It is placed in your website's Google tag so visits are sent to the right property. Older Universal Analytics used a tracking ID that started with "UA-", which no longer collects data. The ID is not a secret, since it is visible in your site's code, but it should match your own property.
Why it matters for your business: When we connect analytics to your site, this is the ID we use. A wrong or old ID means your visits are going nowhere or to someone else's property.
