What is a shared inbox?
A shared inbox is one email inbox that several team members can read and reply from, such as support@.
A shared inbox lets a team work from one address. Everyone with access can see new messages, reply as the shared address and see what others have answered. Microsoft 365 calls this a shared mailbox. Google Workspace offers collaborative inboxes through Google Groups. Many help desk tools add features like assigning messages and tracking status.
Why it matters for your business: A shared inbox keeps customer emails from getting lost when one person is out and avoids two people answering the same message.
