What is an email alias?

An email alias is an extra address that delivers to an existing mailbox, so you can receive mail at more than one address.

An email alias is a second name for a mailbox you already have. For example, sales@ and info@ might both be aliases that land in one person's inbox. An alias has no password or inbox of its own. In many services, you can also choose to send replies from the alias address. Aliases usually do not cost extra, unlike full user mailboxes.

Why it matters for your business: Aliases let you post role-based addresses on your website and switch who reads them later, without changing what customers use.
