What is a soft bounce?
A soft bounce is a temporary delivery failure, such as a full mailbox or a server that is briefly unavailable.
A soft bounce means the address is real, but the message could not be delivered right now. Common reasons are a full inbox, a message that is too large or a receiving server that is down or limiting traffic. Many systems retry soft bounces for a while. If the same address soft bounces many times in a row, it is often treated like a hard bounce.
Why it matters for your business: An occasional soft bounce is normal, but a sudden jump can signal a delivery problem worth looking into.
