What is a TIFF file?

A TIFF is a high-quality raster image format used for print and archiving, with large files that keep every detail.

TIFF stands for Tagged Image File Format. It stores images with little or no quality loss, which makes it popular with photographers, scanners and some printers. The tradeoff is size: TIFF files are often many times larger than a JPG of the same photo. Web browsers generally do not display TIFF files, so they need to be converted before going on a website.

Why it matters for your business: A TIFF is a good archive copy of an important photo, but convert it to WebP or JPG for your website.
