What is a website backup?

A website backup is a saved copy of your site's files and data that can be restored if something breaks, is deleted or is hacked.

A website backup is a full copy of your site, including its pages, images, settings and any database, saved somewhere separate from the live site. If an update goes wrong, content is deleted by mistake or the site is hacked, a backup lets you roll back to a working version. Good backups run on a schedule, keep several past versions and are stored off the main server. A backup you have never tested restoring is only a hope.

Why it matters for your business: Backups turn a disaster into an inconvenience. Ask how often your site is backed up and how long a restore would take.
