What is Git?
Git is a version control tool that records every change to a website's code, so developers can review, undo and work together safely.
Git is the most widely used version control system. Version control keeps a full history of every change made to a project's files: who changed what, when and why. Developers can work on separate copies, called branches, then merge their work. If something breaks, they can go back to an earlier version. The project and its history live in a repository, often stored on a service like GitHub or GitLab.
Why it matters for your business: Version control means your website's code has a full history and can be rolled back. Make sure your business has access to the repository, not only the developer.
