What is uptime?
Uptime is the share of time your website is online and working. Downtime is the time it is not.
Uptime is how much of the time your website is available, usually given as a percentage over a month or year. Downtime is the opposite: the minutes or hours when the site cannot be reached or shows errors. Uptime monitoring tools check your site every few minutes from outside and send an alert when it stops answering. Downtime can come from host problems, expired domains or certificates, DNS mistakes or broken updates.
Why it matters for your business: Every minute of downtime can mean lost calls, orders and trust. Monitoring means problems are found fast, often before a customer notices.
