What is an ad campaign?

An ad campaign is a group of ads that share one goal, one budget and one set of settings, such as location and schedule.

An ad campaign is the top-level container for your advertising on a platform like Google Ads or Meta. Each campaign has a goal (such as calls, sales or website visits), a daily or total budget, a location, a schedule and other settings. Inside a campaign are ad groups or ad sets, and inside those are the ads people see. Results are usually reported per campaign.

Why it matters for your business: Splitting ads into campaigns by goal or service lets you see which spending brings customers and move budget to what works.
