What is device category?
Device category tells you whether a visit came from a desktop computer, a mobile phone or a tablet.
Device category is a GA4 dimension that splits visits into desktop, mobile and tablet. Related dimensions show the operating system, browser and screen size. Most small business sites now get more than half their visits from phones, though it varies by industry. Comparing engagement and key events by device shows whether the mobile experience is working.
Why it matters for your business: If phone visitors convert much less than desktop visitors, your mobile pages may need work, such as faster loading or easier forms.
