What is mobile-first indexing?
Mobile-first indexing means Google mainly uses the mobile version of your website to understand and rank your pages.
With mobile-first indexing, Google looks at your site the way a smartphone sees it. If your mobile pages leave out text, images or links that your desktop pages have, Google may miss that content. Google now uses mobile-first indexing for nearly all websites. A site that shows the same content on every screen size, often called a responsive design, handles this well.
Why it matters for your business: Most of your visitors, and Google itself, see your site on a phone first. Your mobile pages need the full content, not a cut-down version.
