What is DMARC?

DMARC is a DNS record that tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails SPF and DKIM checks, and sends you reports.

DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance. It builds on SPF and DKIM. Your DMARC record sets a policy for mail that fails those checks: none (only monitor), quarantine (send to spam) or reject (block it). It can also ask receivers to send you reports, so you can see who is sending email using your domain. Most domains start at "none" and tighten over time.

Why it matters for your business: DMARC helps stop scammers from sending email that looks like it came from you, and bulk senders to Gmail and Yahoo are now required to have one.
