What is email open rate?
Open rate is the share of delivered emails that recipients opened, as measured by your email tool.
Open rate divides the number of opened emails by the number delivered. Most tools detect opens with a tiny invisible image that loads when an email is viewed. Some mail apps, including Apple Mail with privacy protection turned on, load those images automatically, which can count opens that never happened. Other apps block images, which hides real opens. Treat open rate as a rough signal.
Why it matters for your business: Open rate helps you test subject lines and send times, but clicks and replies are a more reliable sign that an email worked.
