What is an organic search result?

An organic search result is a regular listing a search engine shows because it judged the page relevant, not because anyone paid for it.

Organic results are the unpaid listings on a search results page. A search engine picks and orders them on its own, based on how well each page matches the search and how trustworthy it seems. Paid results are marked as ads (often labeled "Sponsored") and appear because a business bid on that search. You cannot pay a search engine to move up in the organic results.

Why it matters for your business: Organic visits keep coming without a cost per click. Many people also trust organic results more than ads, so ranking well organically can bring steady, low-cost leads.
