What is a SERP?
A SERP (search engine results page) is the page you see after you search. It holds ads, map results, AI answers and the regular list of websites.
SERP stands for search engine results page. It is the page a search engine shows after you type a search. Years ago it was a plain list of ten blue links. Today it often mixes several things: paid ads at the top, a map with nearby businesses, an AI Overview, image or video rows, a "People also ask" box, and the regular (organic) website results. The mix changes based on what was searched and where the searcher is.
Why it matters for your business: Your customers see the whole page, not only the website links. Knowing what appears for your main searches shows where you have room to be seen, such as the map, a featured snippet or the regular results.
