What is POP?
POP is an older way for email apps to download messages from the server to one device, often removing them from the server.
POP, or POP3, stands for Post Office Protocol. An email app using POP downloads new messages to that one device. Depending on the settings, the server may delete its copy afterward. That means a message read on your laptop may not appear on your phone. POP still works, but IMAP is a better fit for anyone using more than one device.
Why it matters for your business: If emails seem to vanish from one device after you read them on another, a POP setting is a common reason.
