What is SMTP?
SMTP is the standard method email servers and apps use to send email to other servers.
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. When you press send, your email app hands the message to an SMTP server, which passes it toward the recipient's mail server. IMAP and POP handle reading mail; SMTP handles sending it. Website forms and business apps often send email through an SMTP service, using a server name, a port and login details from your provider.
Why it matters for your business: If a website form or app stops sending email, the SMTP settings are often the first thing to check.
