What is preheader text?

Preheader text is the short preview line that many inboxes show next to or under an email's subject line.

Preheader text, also called preview text, is a line of copy that appears after the subject in many inbox views, before anyone opens the email. If you do not set it, the inbox usually shows the first words of your email, which may be something unhelpful like "View in browser." Most email marketing tools have a field for it. Keep it short and add to the subject rather than repeat it.

Why it matters for your business: A good preview line gives people one more reason to open your email instead of scrolling past it.
