What is site search in Google Analytics?
Site search tracking records what visitors type into the search box on your own website.
If your website has a search box, GA4's enhanced measurement can record each search as a view_search_results event, along with the words searched. It detects searches by looking for common search parameters in the page address, such as q or s. Sites with a different setup need extra configuration. The searched words show up as the search term dimension.
Why it matters for your business: What people search for on your site shows what they cannot find, and what they want, which are great ideas for new pages or clearer menus.
