What is enhanced measurement?
Enhanced measurement is a GA4 setting that automatically tracks common actions, like scrolls, outbound clicks, site searches, video plays and file downloads.
Enhanced measurement is turned on by default for GA4 web data streams. Without extra setup, it records events such as page views, scrolls (when someone reaches about 90 percent of a page), clicks on links to other websites, searches on your site, engagement with embedded YouTube videos, file downloads and form interactions. Each type can be switched on or off in the data stream settings.
Why it matters for your business: It gives you useful measurement from day one. Some actions, like a booking or a phone call, still need their own events set up.
