What is WCAG?
WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, is the international standard for making websites usable by people with disabilities.
WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It lists testable success criteria grouped under four principles: content must be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. Each criterion has a level: A is the minimum, AA is the level most laws and policies point to, and AAA is the highest. Versions build on each other, with WCAG 2.2 being the current version as of this writing.
Why it matters for your business: When someone asks whether your site is accessible, they usually mean measured against WCAG, often at level AA.
