What are uppercase and lowercase letters?

Uppercase letters are capitals, like A and B; lowercase letters are the small forms, like a and b.

Uppercase means capital letters and lowercase means small letters. The names come from the cases, or drawers, that early printers stored metal type in: capitals in the upper case and small letters in the lower case. Text in all capitals feels loud and is slower to read in long passages. Sentence case, where only the first word and names are capitalized, usually reads best.

Why it matters for your business: Use all capitals sparingly, for short labels or headings, so your messages stay readable and do not feel like shouting.
