What is tracking (letter spacing)?
Tracking is the overall spacing between all the letters in a word or line, adjusted evenly to make text looser or tighter.
Tracking, called letter-spacing on the web, changes the space between every letter in a block of text at once. Kerning adjusts single pairs. Wider tracking can make short labels or all-capital headings feel airy and refined. Tighter tracking can make large headlines feel bold and compact. Changing tracking too much in body text makes it harder to read.
Why it matters for your business: Small spacing choices affect how premium and readable your brand looks, especially in headings and logos.
