What does deindexed mean?

Deindexed means a page or whole site has been removed from a search engine's index, so it no longer appears in search results.

A page is deindexed when a search engine drops it from its index. This can happen on purpose, such as when a page has a noindex tag or is deleted. It can also happen by accident, such as when a site setting blocks search engines after a redesign. In rare cases, Google removes pages for breaking its spam policies. A site search like site:yourdomain.com gives a rough idea of what is indexed.

Why it matters for your business: If your traffic suddenly falls off a cliff, deindexing is one of the first things to check. Many causes are simple settings that can be fixed quickly.
