What is a geographic modifier?

A geographic modifier is a place name added to a search, like a city, neighborhood or \"near me,\" that tells the search engine where to look.

A geographic modifier is the location part of a search, such as "in Phoenix," "downtown," "Orange County" or "near me." Searches with a place name are sometimes called regional or local keywords. Using the towns and areas you serve naturally on your website, for example on service area pages, helps search engines connect your business to those places.

Why it matters for your business: If you serve several towns, mentioning them in the right places helps you show up when people search for your service in each one.
