What is a plugin?
A plugin is an add-on that gives software a new feature without changing its core, such as a form builder or SEO tool added to a website.
A plugin, also called an add-on or extension, is a separate piece of software you install into a larger program to add a feature. Website platforms, browsers and design tools all support plugins. For websites, plugins can add forms, galleries, stores, security checks or search features. Each plugin is written by its own developer, so it needs updates, and a poorly made or abandoned plugin can slow the site or open a security hole.
Why it matters for your business: Fewer, well-maintained add-ons means a faster, safer site. Remove any you do not use.
