What is an ad extension?

An ad extension, now called an asset in Google Ads, adds extra details to a search ad, such as links, a phone number or your address.

An ad extension adds extra information under or beside a search ad. Google Ads now calls these "assets." Common types include sitelinks (links to other pages on your site), callouts (short selling points), structured snippets (lists of services), call assets (a phone number or call button), location assets (your address) and price and promotion assets. Google decides when to show each asset, so not every one appears every time.

Why it matters for your business: Assets make your ad bigger and more useful at no extra cost to add, which often brings more clicks and calls from the same budget.
