What is an NS record?
An NS record names the nameservers that hold a domain's DNS settings. It tells the internet where to look up your records.
An NS record (name server) lists the servers that are in charge of a domain's DNS. The NS records set at your registrar decide which DNS host's records the world reads. If your NS records point to one company, edits made at a different company have no effect. NS records can also hand off a single subdomain to another provider, which is called delegation.
Why it matters for your business: Changing NS records swaps your whole DNS host at once. If the new host is missing even one record, your website or email can stop working, so this change goes through a request.
