What is auto-generated content?
Auto-generated content is text made by software. Google allows it, including AI writing, when it is helpful, but not when it is mass-produced to game rankings.
Auto-generated content is written by a program rather than a person. Today that often means AI tools. Google's guidance is that how content is made matters less than whether it helps people. Using AI to draft useful pages is allowed. Producing large numbers of low-value pages, by AI or any other method, mainly to rank in search breaks Google's spam policies. Google calls this scaled content abuse.
Why it matters for your business: AI can speed up writing, but every page still needs accurate facts, real knowledge of your business and a human review before it goes live.
