What is domain forwarding?

Domain forwarding sends visitors from one domain to another web address automatically, such as an extra domain pointing to your main site.

Domain forwarding, also called URL forwarding or a domain redirect, automatically sends anyone who visits one domain to a different address. Businesses use it for extra domains they own, such as a misspelling, an old brand name or a .net version, so every one of them lands on the main website. Most registrars offer forwarding as a setting. A permanent forward should use a 301 redirect. Forwarding a domain does not forward its email; that is set up separately.

Why it matters for your business: Forwarding your extra domains to one main site keeps customers from landing on an empty page and keeps your search presence in one place.
