What is image resolution?
Image resolution is how much detail an image holds, usually described by its pixel dimensions or by dots per inch for print.
Resolution describes the amount of detail in an image. On screens, it is usually the pixel width and height, such as 1920 by 1080. In print, it is often described as dots or pixels per inch. A low-resolution image looks fine small but turns blurry when enlarged. A very high-resolution image looks sharp but can be a heavy file that slows a website. The goal is the right resolution for where the image will appear.
Why it matters for your business: Using images at the right resolution keeps your website fast and your printed pieces sharp.
