What is incognito mode?
Incognito mode, or private browsing, opens a browser window that does not use your saved cookies, sign-ins or history.
Incognito mode is Chrome's name for a private browsing window. Safari, Edge and Firefox have the same feature under names like Private Window or InPrivate. A private window starts without your saved cookies or sign-ins, and it forgets your history when you close it. It is not invisible: your employer, internet provider and the websites you visit can still see activity. It is a useful way to see your site the way a new visitor does.
Why it matters for your business: Opening your site in a private window is a quick test. If a problem disappears there, it is likely caused by your browser's saved data rather than the website.
