What is Pantone?
Pantone is a numbered color-matching system that lets printers mix an exact ink, so a brand color looks the same from job to job.
Pantone is a company that publishes a standard set of numbered colors. Printers can mix a premixed ink, called a spot color, to match a Pantone number exactly instead of building the color from four process inks. Brands use Pantone numbers when color must stay consistent across shirts, signs, packaging and paper from different vendors. Your brand guide can list a Pantone number next to the hex and CMYK codes for each color.
Why it matters for your business: A Pantone number gives every printer the same target, which helps your colors stay consistent on merchandise and printed materials.
