What is social media engagement?
Engagement is how people interact with your posts and profile: likes, comments, shares, saves, clicks and messages.
Engagement measures how many people act on your content instead of scrolling past it. Likes, reactions, comments, shares, saves, link clicks and direct messages all count. Platforms often report an engagement rate, which compares interactions with the number of people who saw the post. Each platform counts engagement a little differently, so compare results within the same platform.
Why it matters for your business: Engagement shows which posts connect with customers, and platforms tend to show engaging posts to more people.
