What does 400 mean?
A 400 Bad Request error means the server could not understand the request, often because of a broken link or bad browser data.
400 Bad Request means the server received a request it could not make sense of. Common causes are a mistyped or broken link with odd characters, a file that is too large, or old or damaged cookies stored in your browser for that site. It can also happen when a form sends data in a format the site does not expect. The server itself is usually fine.
Why it matters for your business: If customers hit a 400 error on a form or checkout, they cannot finish, so it is worth reporting right away.
What to do if you see it
- Check the address for typos or extra characters, then reload.
- Clear the cookies for that site, or try a private window.
- If you were uploading a file, try a smaller one.
- If the problem is on your own website, open a request in your client portal with the page address and a screenshot, and our team will look into it.
