What is an AI file?
An AI file is the native working file from Adobe Illustrator, often the editable master of a logo or illustration.
An AI file is the format Adobe Illustrator saves by default. It usually holds vector artwork with all its layers, colors and editable text, which makes it a common master file for logos. You need Illustrator, or another program that can import it, to edit an AI file. Because it is the source file, it is the version a designer will need if your logo ever has to change.
Why it matters for your business: Ask your designer for the editable source files, such as AI files, when your logo is finished, so future changes do not start from scratch.
